What is Matcha?
Matcha tea is grown in Japan through a special process that ensures its unique sweet taste and wide range of health benefits. The tea leaves are shaded up to a month before harvest, and this creates much more chlorophyll, which is responsible for the distinctive green color. In addition, the plant is more fragile and full of nutrients and amino acids.
After ripening, the best quality leaves are collected by hand, steamed, dried and finally crushed into a fine powder called Matcha. The entire process from seed planting to harvest can take up to 7 years!
And why is Matcha so special?
Japanese Matcha tea has a wide range of uses. Not only can it be used to make delicious hot and cold drinks, but it can also be added to desserts, chocolate or ice cream, giving them a fresh green color and a light tea flavor.
